Rosatom: A Nuclear Spending Spree
Nuclear power plant blowing huge clouds into dusky sky.

Nigeria is in talks with Rosatom, Russia’s state-owned nuclear company, to build four nuclear power plants in a bid to end to the blackouts that plague Africa’s most populous country. A successful deal – estimated at US$80 billion – would see the West African country join a rapidly expanding list of Rosatom clients including India, Vietnam, China and Belarus. Any deal will likely spark additional concerns that the company is expanding too quickly without adequate concern for safety or anti-proliferation issues.
