Police raided the homes of suspects in a money-laundering scheme run by the Turkish government in December 2013. They found $17.5 million in cash, allegedly used to pay bribes. 52 arrests were made that day. It emerged that every one was somehow connected to the ruling political party, Erdogan’s AKP.
